ICC World Cup 2011 - Team India likely

The ICC ODI World Cup start, 7 months from now, February 19, 2011, when the giants of cricket, India and Bangladesh will meet at the Stadium of Sher-e-Bangla Mirpur in Bangladesh.

In this first of a series of articles on the biggest sporting events in the Indian subcontinent, I will list 23 players who will likely consist of the Indian team world cup.

Why am I naming the Indian team ahead of the rest? Because India are the favorites for the World Cup, especially when it co-hosting it with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

These are the 23 players I think will make the cut for Team India: MS Dhoni (captain and wicket keeper), Sehwag (vice-captain), Gambhir, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Raina, Jadeja, Harbhajan, Zaheer, Nehra, Praveen, Sreesanth, Yusuf Pathan, Dinesh Kartik, Rohit Sharma, Saurabh Tiwari, Mithun , Mishra, Ishant Sharma, Kohli, Chawla and Ojha.

All the usual suspects are here, but some omissions could cause a comment. For example, I excluded Irfan Pathan. Those who have any doubt in this regard should refer to this article, I wrote a few days ago.

This is a list of 23 probable, of which the last 14 get selected. At 14, we are certain to see the following players: Dhoni, Sehwag, Gambhir, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Raina, Harbhajan, Zaheer, Nehra and Rohit Sharma. So I am left with the task of selecting more than 4. And they Dinesh Kartik, Mithun Abhimanyu, Yusuf Pathan and Sreesanth.

Dinesh Kartik Why? He comes into my computer as a specialist batsman, but do not know why Dhoni does not let you have windows. Probably, Dhoni is the field behind the trunks of a place to shout encouragement to his players and gardeners. Returning to Dinesh Kartik, has been around long enough to be able to handle pressure situations, as well demonstrated in the Asia Cup. It is also an agile fielder.

Yusuf Pathan makes qualifying ahead of Jadeja. Jadeja is a young player, but the fight against Yusuf Pathan has the advantage over him in pure attitude. Jadeja lacks the brute force that can bring in Pathan slog off. Also his style of delivery with a high-arm action ensures that your bowling has a lower trajectory and perhaps a little more difficult to save for performances, but Jadeja has often proved more than useful player.

Ishant Sharma, Ojha, Saurabh Tiwary Mishra and almost reached its goal, but did not. But surely you must have noticed the biggest omission from my list - vir € ~ Kohli. For example Kohli i would have meant abandoning the 14 Rohit Sharma. But ask, what is the most stylish batsman? In addition, Rohit is capable of rolling a total share of acquisitions in the turns, consistently, as it has done on many occasions.

But Kohli can find some consolation in the fact that this is only 14 for the first game. The World Cup is going to last a month and a half. Injuries and poor performance could lead to some changes, and Kohli could soon be back on the team.
