ICC World Cup 2011 - India, Pakistan, face to face in the World

ICC World Cup 2011 - India, Pakistan, face to face in the World

In 119 ODIs played between Pakistan and India have dominated cross-border rivals India with a victory 69 to 46 defeats.

But in World Cup history has been radically different.

The parties met for the first time in a World Cup in 1992 in Australia. Pakistan, who won the World Cup, but the rivalry between India and Pakistan has often been regarded as big as the World Cup.

The match started well for Sydney with Azharuddin India winning the toss and choosing to bat. The Indian team has 216 in a match reduced to 49 overs due to a slowdown in the rate by Pakistan.

Chasing a modest total, Pakistan went for the 173, going from a dominant position in 105 / 2. Manoj Prabhakar, Kapil Dev and Srinath has two windows each.

Four years ago, Bangalore was a bigger stage, with tens of thousands of rooting for the hosts. The teams were playing for a place in the semi-final against Sri Lanka.

Again, India won the crucial launch and accumulated 287 in the back of Sidhu 93. Pakistan fell short by 39 runs after looking threatening 113 / 1, at one stage.

India win in Manchester in 1999 again highlighted by the rivalry between India and Pakistan is seen as a separate event in its own right and as large as the World Cup itself.

This was a tournament that was to leave India after the Super Six stage, while Pakistan to the final where they lost to the eventual winners, Australia.

India batted first, once again, and the 227 was enough on a wicket seam where Venkatesh Prasad five for sure that Pakistan were out for 180.

Then came the 2003 Pool A match, which Pakistan has to bat first and helped 273 per tonne Said Anwar. However, the total was about 30 runs short of hitting a window, and the opening partnership of 53 in 29 balls in the back of a rampant Sehwag was a precursor of things to come.

Tendulkar went on to play what is considered their best entries in any World Cup, and although he fell for 98, Dravid led the home team in the company of Yuvraj.

That was the last game between the sides in a World Cup. Therefore, here we are, India against Pakistan in World Cup: India 4, Pakistan 0.

2011 will be different, or more of the same? I can not wait to find out.

ICC World Cup 2011: India, South Africa, face to face in World Cup

India is among the favorites to win the ICC World Cup in 2011 set out in co-host in 2011. South Africa is expected to mount a serious challenge for the title. How have these computers together in previous editions of the event?

SA were readmitted to international cricket in 1990 after they were banned by the International Criminal Court in 1970 for the policy of apartheid practiced against blacks in their country.

His first chance to play in the ICC World Cup came in 1992 when the event was held in Australia. India and South Africa had its first meeting at the Adelaide Oval in a match reduced by rain to 30 overs aside.

The South Africans won the toss and India, he managed to bat 180 / 6 in the back of the captain Azharuddin 79, with the help of cameos from Manjrekar (28) and Kapil Dev (42). For South Africa, Donald and Kuiper caught two wickets each.

SA chased the target with five balls to spare, thanks to the opening of a stand of 128 between Peter and Kirsten Hudson. There was a flurry of windows once Hudson was out shot by Srinath, but in the end, six wicket win was a cruiser, grazing pattern home. For Wessels team India, Srinath, Kapil and Prabhakar took a ring each.

In the next edition of the cup, hosted in the subcontinent in 1996, India and SA were placed in different groups, and are not, with South Africa crashed after losing to West Indies in the quarterfinals.

The parties met with a world cup in 1999 in England, where they were placed in the same preliminary group. In the match at Hove, Brighton, India won the toss and batted on a stand first.Building opening 67 runs between Ganguly and Tendulkar, the Indians reached 253 / 5 in their allotted 50 overs. Ganguly fell three short of a century and Dravid 54, in an innings lost momentum in the slog acquisitions after Ganguly was run on a brilliant piece of fielding of Jonty Rhodes. Klusener contributed three windows to reduce India to what might be said that some 30 runs short of comfort.

Klusener, Rhodes, Cronje made useful contributions, such as South Africa reached their destination quite comfortably in the 48 th over, Kallis showing the way with 96, before it has run in 46 º more. Srinath has two windows, while Kumble, Ganguly and Agarkar took one apiece in a bowling alley largely unimpressive performance.

World cup of the day, co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya, and in a tournament in which India did brilliantly to reach the final, South Africa could not make it past the group stage at the height the label of chokers who by then had won. in the event, India and South Africa do not occur in this edition.

Thereafter, in the 2007 World Cup, it was the turn of India to drown in the group stage losing to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, ensuring another opportunity lost to try to improve his record against South Africa World Cup.

Therefore, South Africa has played twice in India ODI World Cups, winning comfortably on both occasions. Is it different this time, with India enjoying home-field advantage? We have no time to find out.

ICC World Cup 2011: India, Sri Lanka head to head in World Cups

India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh co-host the next ODI World Cup, scheduled to begin in February 2011.

Given his familiarity with wickets in the subcontinent, India and Sri Lanka are being considered among the favorites to win the title. How have these two teams against each other in the past World Cups?

The inaugural World Cup was held in 1975 in England, with two preliminary groups of four teams each. India and Sri Lanka were placed in separate groups and are not. India finished third in their group, losing to England and New Zealand, Sri Lanka, finished fourth in his being beaten by the West Indies, Australia and Pakistan. Thus, both teams were eliminated from the tournament, failed to qualify for the semifinals.

The first meeting between the parties occurred in the 1979 edition, where, as in 1975, the parties had entries from 60 overs each. Sri Lanka batted first and made 238 / 5, with the help of fifty to fifty Wettimuny, Dias and Mendis. Amarnath, playing as a bowling all-rounder took 3 / 40. When India batted, OPATH and DS De Silva took three windows each as India crashed to 191 all in the 55 th time. Vengsarkar with 36 was the top scorer of the innings.

The two parties met in 1983 and 1987 editions of the World Cup. The next time they met in Australia in the 1992 edition, the meeting lasted only two balls before the rain caused the match to be abandoned.

Then came the 1996 World Cup, presented at the sub-continent for the second time after 1987. India and Sri Lanka met in a group match in New Delhi. Batting first, India made a respectable 271 / 3, in the back of Tendulkar's 137 with the support of Azhar, who made 72. But India had not counted on Jayasuriya, a lower order batsman who was recently promoted to the opening slot. In the company of the diminutive Kaluwitharana, Jayasuriya made to look ridiculously small goal, such as Sri Lanka made 42 runs in the first three overs, Manoj Prabhakar to give 33 in his two.

The teams met again in the semifinals in Calcutta. Sri Lanka batted first and the largest size of the Eden Gardens ground proved the undoing of both openers within the first four balls of over.Jayasuriya Kaluwitharana Srinath and were captured in the gardens of trying to raise six Srinath undoubtedly trying to recreate the start of Sri Lanka said in the group game against India.

Thereafter, it was a repair job for the first time by Aravinda De Silva, and then Mahanama took the team to a respectable 251 / 8. Chasing under lights is never easy and is even more difficult on a wicket which began to deteriorate rapidly. After Tendulkar out for care 65 years, the Indian team plunged to 120 / 8 before the crowd disturbance brought a premature end collision, with the match referee Clive Lloyd awarded the game to Sri Lanka.

The teams gathered near the cup, three years later in Taunton, England, and this time, India batted first. after the early opening loss Ramesh, skipper Ganguly (183) and Dravid (145) subject to the bowling of Sri Lanka to abuse which saw 200 runs scored in the last 20 overs. India finished on 373 / 6, and the response of Sri Lanka ended with a whimper, the skittles out for 216, with Robin Singh to take a five.

Then went to the 2003 World Cup in South Africa, the parties met in a Super Six match in Johannesburg. India batted first, and after the opening of a stand 153 between Tendulkar (97) and Sehwag (66) never looked back, the end result was 292 / 6. Chasing 293 to win Sri Lanka were bundled out 109, with batsmen failing to score. Nehra and Srinath took four points of each while Zaheer accounted for the other two.

In the last World Cup meeting between the parties transoired in Port of Spain, in 2007, when the Carribeans venue for the first time.Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka made 254 / 6, a seemingly modest results, taking into that on the same floor a few days before India had scored only 191 against Bangladesh, a score that could not defend. The loss of Bangladesh made this group a must-win match for India, if it is to progress. In these circumstances, outside of Sri Lanka cricket was brilliant in a day when nothing went right for India, beginning with the draw. They were thrown out for 185 in the 44 th time, with Sehwag (48) and Dravid (60) the only batsmen to put up any semblance of a fight.

So Sri Lanka to India 3-2 in World Cup meetings. India will square the account in 2011? I can not wait to find out.

10 reasons for Pakistan win the ICC World Cup 2011

The Pakistan cricket fans are a bitter race. Once again his team regardless of the fact that men are often disappointed, and will likely continue to do so in the future. So if you request a backup of Pakistan on the prospects for his team in the World Cup, it is likely that these 10 reasons why Pakistan is sure to win the tournament:

1. Zero Pressure Expectation: With no expectation of any kind against them, Pakistan can play their free flowing game without pressure, as demonstrated in the past, which are more dangerous when allowed to do so.

2. Afridi, Afridi factor is always present in any ODI Pakistan to play in. In many ways, Afridi is the quintessence of Pakistan cricket - able to do anything in one day and not abjectly to the next. But Pathan has a sense of history, as he proved when he helped Pakistan to lift the T20 World Cup 2008. History beckons again in 2011.

3. Umar Gul: While all the media attention has focused on the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Aamer Md Asif, Gul has been a constant among the new ball operators in Pakistan in recent years. With his penchant for making windows, often against the run of play, Gül can not be dismissed as a match-winning factor.

4. Khan Yunis, Yunis, which is one of the few seniors on a team that has suffered the ravages of the relationship between space-fixing, Pakistan to victory in the T20 WC 2008, and seek inspiration from that experience to guide his team to its destination.

5. Misbah Ul Haq: Misbah has not overcome his misjudgment in the past more than the T20 2007 final that cost his team the title, and will do everything possible to repair a large event this year WC ..

6. Umar Akmal: Omar has been a sensational find of the recent hard times. As Inzamam announced his arrival to the copy of 1992, the event this year could be a great scene of Omar.

7. A young New Match-winner: the ability to hit Imran Nazir has amplified the 2007 T20 WC in his work with the bat helped his team to the final. Pakistan has become a habit of throwing up new stars in world events, and this time could be different, with a team full of young cousins.

8. Bob Woolmer: Many in Pakistan believe that only World Cup victory will Bob Woolmer ghost at rest. The death of Pakistan coach in mysterious circumstances during the 2007 event cast a shadow over his cricket in Pakistan, who are yet to emerge.

9. Spot Fixing Trio: The point of attachment scam comes at a time when the Pakistan team seemed to be rebuilding it with Test wins against Australia and England. Protesting against fraud, the fans took out processions of donkeys upset is named after the trio contaminated - with banners in the sense - and beat the animals with sticks and shoes. Pakistan wants to win the WC and prove they can do it without the ground fixing.

10. India: There is nothing that Pakistan players and fans thrill the eyes of their captain, holding aloft the World Cup INDIA IN THE GROUND.

ICC World Cup 2011: Team South Africa likely

South Africa has had a very good year in ODIs in 2010. South Africa have won all but two of the 11 matches played by them during the year, in fact, have won nine straight games, a great record of any action, although Nitpickers might point out that all but one of those victories have come in against the West Indies and Zimbabwe, not the strongest teams around.

But we can use these games as a good indication of how his players to help us get to South Africa's probable team for the World Cup. South Africa have used 21 players throughout the year: Smith, Amla, Bosman, De Villiers, Gibbs, Petersen, Kallis, Miller, Ingram, Boucher, Duminy, Parnell, Langeveldt, an der Morkel, M Morkel, Botha, Steyn, Van Merwe Tsotsobe, McLaren and Theron.

South Africa has a strong area in excess of versatile, but its main problem is the lack of variety in bowling. In the range sub-continental level windows in the bowling is an asset. And therein lies the problem of getting the balance right.

The task of the elimination of seven players likely to get a list of 14 becomes easier if we consider the likes of Gibbs, whose highest ODI score during the year was 27. The other obvious candidate for delisting is Petersen, a right-handed bat who can also play at half pace, Petersen did not take advantage of opportunities that the year 2010.

On paper, McLaren should be a good option as it can hit a bit and bowl a bit, especially in turning bowls left-arm orthodox, giving the team much needed variety. That said, history is nediocre and boring. In 10 ODIs played has a batting average of less than 7.00, and only 8 wickets.

Check out some irregular hitters were given a turn during the year such as the Bosman ruling, Miller and Ingram. Ingram grabbed his chance of a century, while the other two were not as impressive despite having a half-century each. I have therefore omitted Bosman and Miller, while retaining Ingram.

Now our task is short, all we need do is stop two of the following players: Parnell, Langeveldt, A Morkel, Van der Merwe, Tsotsobe, Theron and M. Morkel I fall Tsotsobe, although there is not much to choose between him and Parnell, both bowlers left arm quick, but Parnell has been the most consistent. Theron bowled brilliantly in the recent matches against Zimbabwe, forcing an unpleasant choice between Langeveldt and M. MorkelMorkel top speed wins the day, and will Langeveldt, against my wish.

So here is my first eleven of South Africa for the World Cup: Smith, Amla, De Villiers, Kallis, Duminy, Boucher, A Morkel, Botha, Steyn, M Morkel, Theron

Backups: Parnell, Van der Merwe, Ingram

You might wonder why I kept Albie Morkel, while releasing Langeveldt. View Albie batting ability and you will know the answer. And why I have retained Van der Merwe? Just because your left arm off-spin gives a little variety to the attack.

While bowling is a bit predictable, although Steyn South Africa has a fast bowler seriously good, this team has great hitting. Check out the current form Amla and De Villiers, in 2010, AMLA were four centuries and a lowest score of 34, while De Villers four centuries with a lower score of 21. with Duminy return to form with a century, the opposition players are going to fight in the flat beds of the sub-continent in the World Cup in 2011. The only force that I think that South Africa will mount a serious title challenge this time.

ICC World Cup 2011: India, England, head to head in World Cups

Co-hosts India are among the favorites to win the ICC World Cup in 2011. Curiously, England have emerged as possible candidates after winning their title deeds in the T20 World Cup earlier this year.

Let's look at how teams have fared against each other in World Cups past. The parties met for the first time at the event in its first edition in 1975. The game was played at Lords, England won the toss and elected to bat. Piled up 334 / 5 in 60 acquisitions in the back of 137 Dennis evil is supported by fifty of Fletcher and Chris Old, apart from cameos by John James and captain Mike Denness. fifty fastest player Chris Old bowling underlined the weakness of India in which Ghavri gave 83 runs in 11 overs.

India's response was nothing short of a travesty of the game, thanks to a bewildering than 36 innings in 60 overs for no Gavaskar, who took 174 balls to complie their careers. India finished on 132 / 3, and 202 run margin of defeat was presented as an ODI record for several years. Gavaskar inputs triggered debates about the real motivation behind the entries in the opener.

The sides were placed in different groups in the 1979 edition and did not meet at all that India has shot down in the group stage. Their next meeting came in the 1983 edition which India eventually won. England won the toss at Old Trafford and choose to bat only managed 213. Kapil Dev was the most successful player to catch three windows and put on a good attendance of Binny and Amarnath who received two each. India shot down the clues needed more than five overs to spare, with Yashpal Sharma and Sandeep Patil reaping fifties.

cooperation between India and host the next Cup along with Pakistan and England and India met in the semifinals. Once again, England got lucky with the toss and elected to bat. Graham Gooch scored a brilliant one hundred as England posted a challenging 254 / 5 in 50 overs. Maninder Singh with three counters was most successful player in India. In reply, India slumped to 219 all. Azharuddin top scored for India with 64, while Eddie Hemmings took four windows for England.

ª next meeting of the World Cup between the parties was in Perth in 1992. England batted first and scored after 236 / 9 in their 50 overs with Smith Gooch and fifty score. India fell short by just nine runs, despite an opening stand of 63 runs and half from the opener Ravi Shastri. For England, Dermot Reeve and Botham were among the wickets.

The two sides were in different groups in 1996 hosted the cup in the subcontinent, and colliding with England in the group stage, they are not. The meeting of the day, cup in Birmingham in 1999. India's batting first reached 232 / 8 in 50 overs. Dravid top scored with a fifty and was well supported by several cameos. When England batted, the Indian bowlers were equal to the task and the hosts were shot out for 169. Ganguuly with three counters was the most successful player, Srinath, Kumble and Mohanty have two each.

The meeting of the World Cup last time between the parties occurred in 2003 in Durban. India's batting first reached 250 / 9, thanks to Tendulkar and Dravid fifty. When England batted, Nehra took six windows to send to crash to 168 all out - a 82 run victory as Flintoff with 64 was the only saving grace of England.

Therefore, England and India are tied at three games in all World Cups. With both sides placed in the same group in the 2011 edition, the next meeting is scheduled for 28 February 2011 at Calcutta's Eden Gardens. Who will win it?

ICC World Cup 2011 - Pakistan Likely Team

It is always an interesting exercise to be analyzed in a Pakistan team for any party because there is a high turnover of players, thanks to a cricket setting that seems to thrive on the drama, at least to an outsider.

A source in the know, you could probably correct me and say that the real blame is another, but the net result is not enough.
Not too long ago players, high, and Khan Younis and Yousuf were held Maryland.

Suddenly, after a disastrous tour of Australia, a lot of players 'no' and some were "a fine or suspension.

This is a tragedy for the game of cricket because the quality teams are so few in number, and the International Criminal Court and its support organizations in the major countries playing cricket strive to make the game more popular than their limited circle.

So we can not afford to mess up a team that has so much talent and has made an enormous contribution to the heritage of the game.

But things are improving now, with a recorded test victory over Australia a week ago for a youth team. That victory came after 15 long years, and 13 defeats against the Kangaroos.

Also, Pakistan has been performing relatively better in the shorter version of the game, and the lower T20 have a semifinal, two finals and a title to show the three issues that have played in the measure.

So here I go with my list of 14 players I think will be in the Pakistan squad for ICC World Cup in 2011:

Salman Butt, Imran Nazir Ali Azhar, Amin Omar, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Abdul Razzak, Maryland Aamer, Md. Asif, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal and Imran Farhat.

You might be surprised not to see Shoaib Akhtar in this list. I think Pakistan is better off without him. They also have enough players, so I added a batter Imran Farhat extra.

Some may prefer Kaneria, but I think Ajmal has been more consistent in recent times.

Another name that may surprise you could be Imran Nazir. I do not know why the explosive batsman not being given more opportunities.

I have included Azhar Ali in the strength of temperament displayed on the evidence of Australia.

Omar Amin given a batting all-rounder. Razzaq and Malik Old horses are there to experience.

I refer back to this list when the real team that was announced in February. I can hardly wait, right?

----------------------------------

PS December 7: This article was published in July 2010

Much water has flowed under the bridge since July, and the current Pakistan team is completely different. In these circumstances, the following players have automatic selection:

Mohd. Hafeez, Khan Y, Misbah, Umar Akmal, Afridi, Razzaq, Yusuf Ajmal, Maryland, Akhtar

For the other five players (to complete the list of 14), I would opt for Shahzaib Hassan, offering an additional option for maintenance, M Alam, Mallik (by experience), Gul (if not on the black list) and any young, like other Wahab Riaz (although I would like more opportunities to Imran Farhat).

Knowing Pakistan, I think this list will undergo some changes before and during the World Cup ;-)
